Five people had to be rescued from a sinking boat in the Long Island Sound on Monday evening.
The men were aboard the 17-foot vessel fishing near Asharoken when they started to take on water around 5:30 p.m., police say.
Suffolk Police Marine Bureau officers responded to a 911 call from a person on board who reported the boat was already halfway filled with water.
Police Officers John Dreyer, Dave Froehlich, and Jack Hardy responded in Marine Bravo and pulled up alongside the distressed watercraft.
All five individuals were safely removed and were not injured, according to police.
The vessel was drained and towed to the Soundview Boat Ramp in Northport.
