A longtime Suffolk County varsity soccer coach is marking an impressive career milestone.
Mike Abbondondolo, head coach of the Amityville Memorial High School varsity boys' soccer team, has earned his 200th win.
The celebration came as the Tide defeated Miller Place in a 9-0 victory on their home turf on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
A five-time Suffolk County Coach of the Year, Abbondondolo has been at the helm of Amityville’s program since 2013.
During that tenure, he has led the boys to three New York State championships, in 2015, 2018 and 2022, and a total of five Long Island championships.
“Reaching 200 career victories is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to Coach Abbondondolo’s dedication to our student-athletes and the Amityville soccer program,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gina Talbert.
“What makes his impact so meaningful is the lasting influence he has had on generations of students,” Talbert added.
In addition to their coach’s achievement, the team earned a spot in the top 10 of the United Soccer Coaches Fall Boys Region II rankings this season.
