Residents in the area of Blossom Street and Penn Drive in Dix Hills say there's a serious problem in their neighborhood after two dogs were responsible for multiple unprovoked attacks.

Neighbors say the dogs got out twice. According to neighbors, the first incident was in July, involving a teenager.

The second incident on Aug. 10 involved a jogger and it was caught on camera.

In the video, a woman appeared to do nothing to antagonize the dogs, which were loose in a yard, as she jogged by. Suddenly, the two ran and lunged at her.

Neighbors say the dogs then attacked two people who tried to help, including the jogger's husband. News 12 spoke to the jogger's husband, who did not want his name used.

"One dog had my hand, the other had my elbow, and I was just kind of rolling around the ground," he said. "They knocked me down ... I was screaming, 'Get off, get off, stop' that kind of thing."

News 12 went to the dogs' owner's home, which has a sign that reads, "Please do not knock or ring the bell. It upsets the dogs..."

News 12 tried to reach the owner several times at their front door, but the owner refused to comment.

Suffolk police say that officers responded to Blossom Street on Aug. 10 after a 911 call just before 10 a.m. reported that two people had been bitten by dogs.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a married couple, a 63-year-old woman and 65-year-old man, with several bite marks on their bodies.

Authorities say they had been attacked by two pit bulls that escaped from a residence on Penn Drive.

Both victims were transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening. Police say the Town of Huntington Animal Control was notified and responded to the scene.

Residents tell News 12 the two dogs remain at the home and they want something done before something else happens.
