A man had to be rescued from a car wash after his leg got stuck in Suffolk County late Thursday afternoon.
The East Islip Fire Department was alerted to the emergency just before 5 p.m. at Mr. Suds Flex Car Wash on Carleton Avenue.
Upon arrival, 1st Assistant Chief Hand confirmed the 24-year-old victim was trapped in a car wash roller and extrication tools would be needed to rescue him.
Responding firefighters worked together with the Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Unit, using spreaders, grinders and a torch during the removal process.
Suffolk County Police MEDCAT and Exchange Ambulance of the Islips members provided care to the individual throughout the extensive extrication.
Once free, the Centereach man was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
