One firefighter and an 82-year-old man were injured after a Saturday afternoon fire at a Smithtown home.

Suffolk County fire officials say it happened at 115 Oakside Dr. off of Landing Meadow Road just before 6 p.m.

Police say Robert Barathy was outside his residence when they arrived, and that he suffered serious burns and smoke inhalation injuries. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The firefighter had minor injuries, according to fire officials.

Officials say 11 departments worked to knock down the flames around 9:40 p.m.
